Vietnam tunnels

Whole villages in Vietnam lived undergound in the war

There were many such villages a lot of them connected by long trenches to each other and to the Ho Chi Min trail bringing in soldiers, food, and equipment from the north and surrounding countries. The people were forced to move everything underground as their homes were destroyed above by the American bombs. In huge lengths of tunnels there would be many sleeping areas, a larger meeting area, and other areas specified for different purposes. Many children were born in these conditions.
